Wait for it....Wait for it....

It was another wonderful and fun day for a photo shoot with the exciting A Team! We had Tara DiPetrillo there hooking up the makeup, and the fabulous Avery as the model! Yes, that is Avery from the A Team! So I want to keep you in suspense for the final image, but the theme is "The Circus Comes to Town." The fun part about today, was my little one, Isla, was involved, and I was included as well. So you will see us in the final image! As all of their work is amazing, you will really get a kick out of this one! So here are some behind the scenes pics I took today, and I hope you enjoy, and as soon as I get the image, I will post it for your viewing pleasure.

The Debut of my First Gown - The Koi Dress

So this was an exciting event for me as I was given the task of creating an animal for a photo shoot with Alexa Poletti and her amazing team. I am so drawn to animals that are in the water, and koi fish was the first animal that came to mind. My initial idea was to take existing pieces and reconstruct them to my vision of what a koi dress would look like. After discussing details with my mother, she told me she would sew my vision. So we set out and seeked fabrics that fit the fluttery fish we were going to put on a model. We first found our first accent piece at Piccolo in Belmont. It was perfect! It had all the texture we could ever want for the dress. Then we headed off to Hancock Fabrics and seeked out our final materials. Since we wanted the illusion she was wet, and the possibility she would go in the water, we went with a white spandex as the basis of the gown. Then because I am obsessed with tulle and sequins, those were the final touches we added to the dress. Sequins gave me the illusion of scales, and the tulle was to give the dress some flare. Of course my super talented Mom, Lugene, gave it some of her spin as well. With the orange scarfing, and the textures she felt would feel fish-like. So here is my first dress....there is more to come as well! As a wardrobe stylist I am always on the hunt for things that I cannot find. I find that it would be easier for me to just design what I am seeking. So here's to my journey of creating wardrobe! I am so excited! And if you have ideas for me, please email me!
But without further  a do....here are the images from the shoot, and I am so grateful to this young team of talent! And I am so grateful for them to get me on track with starting my designs!

KOI KOI.....

So this weekend was a planned shoot for my Koi gown/costume with Alexa Poletti Photography, and we had a little hiccup with our model we had planned to dress for a month now. I planned this gown around her, and her features, and felt she would really look awesome in it. Well she decided yesterday she was not interested anymore! Ahhhhh! It was a little stressful when you work a project around a model and they cancel! So Model Mayhem was our next option scoping out all the redheads we could find on there that had similar features. Well in turn we found some really fabulous girls/models that would really portray this gown well. But only problem was we needed her in 2 days! We needed her to come fit today and shoot sunday! Our prayers had come true....along came Christin....a beautiful young model with a totally different look than our original model. She was perfect! All involved in the project were really happy to have her on the team! We really needed to refreshed with a person that had all the same passion as we did for this shoot.  Here she is, the beautiful Ms. Christin Sorensen.....Welcome to our team love! We are so glad to have you!

Plus, here is a sneak peek at my dress....it is going through some major alterations, but you can at least see the silhouette I am going for!

This is just an option on the side we played with....

New Additions to Candace Kualii Styling Studio

So played around in my studio organizing all my schtuff yesterday, and actually got my husband to hang some shelves and stuff for me! Check it out! Also, my little lady dressed up in some of my stuff...she is silly. It is funny cause I just posted on FB that I needed a muse, and had one here the whole time....only in time will she be big enough to dress in this wardrobe.

Here are some pics to see my little creative closet....

What more can a little girl dream of for her Mom to be a Wardrobe Stylist!

Yep, there she is....little diva

Some more pics from " YOU BITCH!"

"YOU BITCH!!!!!!!!" Lover's Quarrel Final Image created by the Talented "A TEAM"

So the image is in! It is more than what I could have ever imagined it to be! The styling was pretty simple with this one, as Avery asked me to go after red. The theme was red to represent anger, and lust. So with that, the models were given an accent piece in red, to portray the anger and lust they were feeling in the image. "Madison" was dressed in a very retro business woman suit with her accent piece being her red jacket. "Molly" wore a red corset, to show her lust right before her lover was blown away, literally....haha.

So here is the story behind the image, I hope you enjoy!

Today has been especially slow for Madison. She has been planning a special night and cannot wait to leave the office. After a long day, Madison comes home to her apartment in New York City. She left work a few hours early to surprise her girlfriend with an anniversary dinner at Le Bernardin.
She closes the front door and yells, “Mollybelle, I’m home! Let’s go out and celebrate!” Mollybelle does not respond. Madison puts her suitcase down and calls Mollybelle’s name once again. Much to her surprise, she hears a man’s voice coming from her bedroom. She grabs the shotgun from the coat closet and heads for the bedroom… She kicks the door open, “You BITCH!”

And here is the behind the scenes pictures!
