Guess who's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, just a little bored. My life has been super eventful since I started doing the set costuming for features and television. I love it! I was supposed to head to Nashville next week to start a new feature, but it got pushed back til Spring! : ( So I am on my super job search to work on the next project!

While I wait for the next project to arise, I will be working with my Mom's new company, It'Sugar, making a candy dress! It is a wonderful opportunity to go back to my creative roots and remember what I love about fashion and art! I have a lot of ideas up my sleeve as far as my ideas for a dress go, but that is to be shown off later! I will blog my experience doing this project! Meanwhile, check out my Mom's new company at http://www.itsugar.com/ .

Going back in time a little, I just completed a show 3 weeks ago called Sleeping Around. Fun show! Got to work with my buddy Amber Givens, the girl who got me my start in the film industry! I got to work with some pretty talented actors and learned from some pretty talented costumers. Plus, the highlight of the show was working with an actor I have been a fan of since "Just Friends", Chris Marquette. Check out what my good friend did for me when he wrapped out the movie!

I was too scared to ask him!!! But he asked me all to the thanks of my good friend Taylor! Love you girl! Best wrap gift ever!

So  going back before this feature, I did a short movie/music video with the guys from KOTK Productions, Cory Doggett and Justin Beasley. We worked with the amazing band IWABO (I wrestled a bear once) and made this hysterical horror film laced with their kick ass music! I had the best time shooting this, and made some wonderful people that I want to work with again in the future!
Recently the poster came out for the movie and its awesome, and the movie will premiere at the Rock and Shock Film Festival, along with the band! Looks like so much fun and wish I could make the premiere!

Stay tuned as I will be adding my new Makeup Artists Portfolio to my page! She is amazing and is getting her career boosted in the Makeup world!

Sorry I have been MIA!

I have been super blessed the past few months with work and have realized my passion is to be a set costumer. I just completed a film at the end of May called Destiny Road. It was a beautiful store about 3 lives coming together through their faith in church. I met the greatest people with the same passion I do, and it was so enlightening.

So in 2 weeks I am heading to Greensboro NC to work a music/movie shoot with a super rad band! Their name is IWABO (I Wrestled a Bear Once). The lead singer is a woman that is totally kick ass and has extremely cool vocal chords....you need to listen for yourself! Check em out and I will let you know how the shoot goes when I get back!

The week following that I am going to work on a film here in Charlotte, so once I complete my 6 week run on that project I will report back!

With my 6 week vacay, I have been super busy! I just moved, and have been working on projects with my new home, which is our sanctuary! We have a huge back yard, and so many fun activities to enjoy! Plus I am working on little sewing projects to keep me busy too! I just completed a dress for Isla! Here you go for your viewing pleasure!

And here are some photo's from a shoot I did with the talented Photographer Bernitki Stradford and MUA Tara DiPetrillo before I headed off to do the movie in April.

Smooches everyone! Hope to be back soon!

First Commercial!

I just got back from a fun trip to Darlington SC, to do a commercial with the talented Sophia Moore and her business partner Sarah Costello from PropTarts! It was so much fun, cause not only was a wardrobe stylist, but I was a product stylist! I got to style Coke bottles, Pringles cans, and Bounty napkins as our STAR (will fill you in later who that was!), came into a Tour bus to grab a coke out of the Dollar General bag! Not only was I hanging out in a tour bus, but I was hanging out on Darlington Speedway! First time for all of this, and it was awesome! The promotion is Race, Rock, and Refresh....and I got to work with Darius Rucker!

Check out some of my pics from my trip!

What to do now....

So, I applied over a month ago for Cirque du Soleil, and today was my interview. My hopes were to be part of their tour to be a wardrobe dresser for the time they were in town. I thought it would be fabulous experience for my career, to be able to dress such amazing performers.

Last week I was supposed to meet with the wardrobe manager for a group interview setting. But since that was my last day on set of the tv show, I was unable to make it. I called them to let them know of why I could not make it, and she told me they had already hired enough costumers for the show. I took it as a sign that it was not meant to be. But much to my surprise the next day they called to set up a personal interview. I was shocked! Had all my hardwork shined through to them? I knew it would be something special.

Today, I arrived to their giant blue and yellow tents. I was greeted at the gate by security guard handing me a hard hat, and a neon vest. It was crazy, and totally clashed with my outfit, to say the least...lol. All the people there to set up this event was amazing, and you could feel an enormous amount of energy with the crowd there. Everyone seemed so happy!

Well to make a long story short, I interviewed, and lost the position to someone else. I know that I had the expertise and the passion to do a good job. I question why I did not get the position, but who knows, maybe it was personality....you all know me...I get along with everyone. ; ) But maybe I seemed to confident...I will not question it any more, as I know it was something that was not meant to be. I hate that I hype stuff up to friends and family, and when I do not get it, it almost seems embarrassing....I know my worth, and people that I have worked with see the passion  I have for this. I think the feeling of rejection is the only thing I need to overcome.

So, I know something bigger and better will come my way, I have that feeling in my heart. I am not going to stop people! You just wait....the best is yet to come!

xoxo Candace

And so it ends....

The past week of my life was changed by an opportunity of a lifetime. I was hired to work as the Wardrobe Manager of the show Southern Fried Stings on TruTV. All the hardwork I had done leading to this position paid off. Good thing I was prepared because I endured 12 hour on set days and then had to work from there to prep for the following day. I loved every minute of it. I am so sad that this job is over, as it was a dream for me! The fast pace of the position, the people, and the excitement of the show itself will forever be in my memory!

Yes, that is Avery from the A Team! So I want to keep you in suspense for the final image, but the theme is "The Circus Comes to Town." The fun part about today, was my little one, Isla, was involved, and I was included as well. So you will see us in the final image! As all of their work is amazing, you will really get a kick out of this one! So here are some behind the scenes pics I took today, and I hope you enjoy, and as soon as I get the image, I will post it for your viewing pleasure.

The Debut of my First Gown - The Koi Dress

So this was an exciting event for me as I was given the task of creating an animal for a photo shoot with Alexa Poletti and her amazing team. I am so drawn to animals that are in the water, and koi fish was the first animal that came to mind. My initial idea was to take existing pieces and reconstruct them to my vision of what a koi dress would look like. After discussing details with my mother, she told me she would sew my vision. So we set out and seeked fabrics that fit the fluttery fish we were going to put on a model. We first found our first accent piece at Piccolo in Belmont. It was perfect! It had all the texture we could ever want for the dress. Then we headed off to Hancock Fabrics and seeked out our final materials. Since we wanted the illusion she was wet, and the possibility she would go in the water, we went with a white spandex as the basis of the gown. Then because I am obsessed with tulle and sequins, those were the final touches we added to the dress. Sequins gave me the illusion of scales, and the tulle was to give the dress some flare. Of course my super talented Mom, Lugene, gave it some of her spin as well. With the orange scarfing, and the textures she felt would feel fish-like. So here is my first dress....there is more to come as well! As a wardrobe stylist I am always on the hunt for things that I cannot find. I find that it would be easier for me to just design what I am seeking. So here's to my journey of creating wardrobe! I am so excited! And if you have ideas for me, please email me!
But without further  a do....here are the images from the shoot, and I am so grateful to this young team of talent! And I am so grateful for them to get me on track with starting my designs!

KOI KOI.....

So this weekend was a planned shoot for my Koi gown/costume with Alexa Poletti Photography, and we had a little hiccup with our model we had planned to dress for a month now. I planned this gown around her, and her features, and felt she would really look awesome in it. Well she decided yesterday she was not interested anymore! Ahhhhh! It was a little stressful when you work a project around a model and they cancel! So Model Mayhem was our next option scoping out all the redheads we could find on there that had similar features. Well in turn we found some really fabulous girls/models that would really portray this gown well. But only problem was we needed her in 2 days! We needed her to come fit today and shoot sunday! Our prayers had come true....along came Christin....a beautiful young model with a totally different look than our original model. She was perfect! All involved in the project were really happy to have her on the team! We really needed to refreshed with a person that had all the same passion as we did for this shoot.  Here she is, the beautiful Ms. Christin Sorensen.....Welcome to our team love! We are so glad to have you!

Plus, here is a sneak peek at my dress....it is going through some major alterations, but you can at least see the silhouette I am going for!

This is just an option on the side we played with....

New Additions to Candace Kualii Styling Studio

So played around in my studio organizing all my schtuff yesterday, and actually got my husband to hang some shelves and stuff for me! Check it out! Also, my little lady dressed up in some of my stuff...she is silly. It is funny cause I just posted on FB that I needed a muse, and had one here the whole time....only in time will she be big enough to dress in this wardrobe.

Here are some pics to see my little creative closet....

Some more pics from " YOU BITCH!"

"YOU BITCH!!!!!!!!" Lover's Quarrel Final Image created by the Talented "A TEAM"

So the image is in! It is more than what I could have ever imagined it to be! The styling was pretty simple with this one, as Avery asked me to go after red. The theme was red to represent anger, and lust. So with that, the models were given an accent piece in red, to portray the anger and lust they were feeling in the image. "Madison" was dressed in a very retro business woman suit with her accent piece being her red jacket. "Molly" wore a red corset, to show her lust right before her lover was blown away, literally....haha.

So here is the story behind the image, I hope you enjoy!

Today has been especially slow for Madison. She has been planning a special night and cannot wait to leave the office. After a long day, Madison comes home to her apartment in New York City. She left work a few hours early to surprise her girlfriend with an anniversary dinner at Le Bernardin.
She closes the front door and yells, “Mollybelle, I’m home! Let’s go out and celebrate!” Mollybelle does not respond. Madison puts her suitcase down and calls Mollybelle’s name once again. Much to her surprise, she hears a man’s voice coming from her bedroom. She grabs the shotgun from the coat closet and heads for the bedroom… She kicks the door open, “You BITCH!”

And here is the behind the scenes pictures!

New Photo Coming Soon! Tonight Actually!

So, was just checking out my tweets, and Aaron and Avery "The A Team" are going to be releasing the photo from the "Lover's Quarrel" this evening...!!!!! I am bouncing around with anxiousness to see how ridiculously awesome this picture will be. My vision for this image is sort of a Quentin Tarantino look with bold bright colors and shock value. I am gonna guarantee it has it all! But with an "A Team" twist! These Artists are amazing, and I really appreciate them incorporating me into their Art!

STAY TUNED FOR THE FINAL SHOT.......
(I hope you are as excited as me!)

Behind the Scenes with Blue Fig Studio Lingerie Shoot

Really excited to work with Kami Ramesh again at Stowe Manor in Belmont! We revisited this 1920's Mansion for the second time to do a little lingerie/boudoir stuff! Since I am a wardrobe stylist, lingerie was really not my forte. But to do work with Kami again in the Manor was exciting! And I found that I can style lingerie more than I thought I could. It was also fun working with the girls to create these sultry Victoria's Secret looks.
Another plus was that my fav Makeup Artist Tara DiPetrillo was with us! She did amazing work on all these girls! I also got a quote from Arielle Chamber (whom I have worked with twice in the past) saying it was the best shoot she has done! It warmed my heart! : )

So here is a sneak peek of the behind the scenes shots in this fabulous Manor!

Also, let me know if you or a friend are interested in doing Boudoir shots for you significant other for Valentine's Day! Our rates are hard to beat! I got some fantastic stuff!

Behind the Scenes with the A Team's Next Creation

Sunday's have definitely become my favorite days working with the A Team! Today was a fun day dressing 2 models to be in a "Lover's Quarell" where a poor guy is caught in the middle. I had the opportunity to work with the fabulous Tara DiPetrillo where she did an emotionally charged woman and a sweet and sexy woman caught in bed with a man. Very charged by the bright reds in both women's wardrobe, it is supposed to represent the anger in the shot. Here are my behind the scenes shots from today! Thanks to everyone involved, it was awesome!
